Welcome to Seren Wen Art

Welcome to Seren Wen Art, the website of South Wales based artist, Ceri Donovan. Growing up in the valleys I loved to draw, and eventually studied Fashion and Textile Design. After various jobs in graphics, followed by a career in engineering and technology research and two redundancies later, I needed a creative outlet so picked up my pencils again and haven’t looked back!

I love to create realistic drawings using artist’s quality coloured pencils, PanPastels, graphite pencils, mixed media – variety is the spice of life! I have a passion for drawing animals, wildlife and custom pet portraits, focusing on creating vibrant and detailed original artwork. I also enjoying drawing complex subjects that have a lot of detail, especially if they are bright and colourful – think sweeties, buttons, lollipops, more sweeties! I strive to make my art original and unique, so where possible I work from my own reference photos. Photography has been an interest of mine for a long time, I enjoy nothing better than a trip to a wildlife park or zoo with my camera in hand! This also allows me to experiment with composition, which I believe is an important part of the creative process.
